David Krut Workshop (DKW), Bookstore and Gallery

David Krut Workshop (DKW) is the centre of David Krut Project’s (DKP) artistic collaborations. The workshop has been involved in exciting print collaborations with artists since 2002 and was one of the first spaces to opt into Arts on Main in 2010.

The workshop specialises in the techniques of intaglio, relief and monotype printing for local and international artists. Their focus is, from conception, to have each collaboration become an opportunity for artists to create something new, adding to their body of work. The workshop’s commitment to challenging technique as well as aesthetic form is another core philosophy.

Alongside DKW there is a bookstore selling unique and a hand-selected range of exquisite local and imported art books as well as titles published by David Krut Pubishing. As well as a gallery space which exhibits new projects produced at DKW with local and international artists including: William Kentridge who’s studio is just a few doors away. 

David Krut Bookstores, are the go-to site to buy art books in South Africa. Our bookstore evolved from small visual art support venues to very busy interactive spaces connected to our art galleries and print workshop. We may have started as a humble distribution point for our own publications – the TAXI Art Book Series and further titles on South African artists – but have expanded to offer a very wide range of titles on all aspects of creativity, important non-fiction and definitive knowledge titles.
